Shennen Bersani was born on October 14th in Boston, Massachusetts. She has one sister, four children, and still resides in Massachusetts.
She remembers watching her grandmother draw with crayons on canvases she cut out from the sides of cardboard boxes. A love of art and illustration are some of her earliest memories.
Shennen attended the Art Institute of Boston and worked as a graphic designer and illustrator for more than ten years. She has taken her love of art to many places: she was a sidewalk artist drawing dinosaurs for The Discovery Channel's "Walking with Dinosaurs" campaign.
She works primarily with colored pencils although she sometimes uses a mixed-media technique of colored pencils, crayons, and paint. Sometimes Shennen scans her drawings and paints over them in Photoshop.
One of her books, Snakes: Long Longer Longest, has sold half-a-million copies! Other books include Ocean Counting, Icky Bug Shapes, and The Eyeball Alphabet Book.
