Easter Island When Mammoths Walked the Earth

Author and illustrator Caroline Arnold, born on May 16th in Minneapolis, Minnesota, has written over 100 books for children. Many have a nature focus and contain photographs from Richard Hewett or husband, Arthur Arnold. You can see her own artwork in Sun Fun (1981) or her photography in Easter Island (2000). Ms. Arnold graduated from Grinnell College in Iowa and the University of Iowa, where she received an MA in art.

Today, she lives with her husband in Los Angeles. Their two children are grown and live away from home. A part-time teacher in a writing program at UCLA, Andrews is still publishing prolifically. 

Recent work includes Birds Nature’s Magnificent Flying Machines (2003) and When Mammoths Walked the Earth (2002).
